Uttar Pradesh Diabetes Association Gautam Budh Nagar Branch organized  diabetes walk-A Walk for Health with theme act today to change tomorrow at Raja Mihir Bhoj park Greater Noida at 7 am on 15th November 2015.  Citizens of Noida and Greater Noida Participated in large numbers. The walk was attended by students,elderly and other people in large numbers with great enthusiasm. Free Blood sugar detection camp was also conducted at the venue.The walk was flagged off by Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Dr. Amit Gupta and Dr Amitesh aggarwal, Dr Piyush jain,Dr Amit Sharma,Dr Vivek Suman,Dr Dheerendra Kuber. Diabetes is emerging as an epidemic in India. Magnitude of the of the problem can be gauged from the fact India is also called diabetes Capital of the World. Prevalence of Diabetes is estimated at 10 % in India.This Increase may be attributed to urbanization,modern lifestyle, junk food, lack of physical activity and exercise.Diabetes not increases the risk of nephropathy,retinopathy and neuropathy but also increases the risk heart attack and stroke. Objective of UPDA is to create more awareness about diabetes,replace myths with facts and motivate people for healthy lifestyle including regular physical activity.

 

Organizers thanked all stakeholders including RWAs, Rotary club,Uttarakhand sanskritik samiti,Gautam Buddha Nagar Cricket association,vyapar and udyog mandal, Agarwal sammelan,arya samaj,amrapali hospital and Himalaya retails ltd.UPDA Gautam Buddha Nagar- branch reiterated its commitment for continued efforts for diabetes awareness and research for community health.
