UTTAR PRADESH ELECTION RESULTS – IT’S PM @NARENDRAMODI MAGIC

It’s clear from the BJP’s win in Uttar Pradesh that ‘Modi magic’ continues in the state. It started with the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in which the BJP and its ally Apna Dal won 73 out of 80 seats.

During the assembly election, almost every pre- and post-poll survey said PM Modi continues to enjoy a high degree of popularity among the state’s electorate. That the BJP won in UP, despite not declaring a chief ministerial candidate, speaks a lot about the charisma of the Prime Minister. It was a state election and yet a popular incumbent – Akhilesh was the most preferred chief minister candidate in a majority of surveys- lost against the PM. It’s clear: There is no anti-incumbency against PM Modi, even though he will soon complete three years in the office.
