Vaccination drive begins for the age group of 15-18 years old from today

India, 3 January: COVID-19 Vaccination for the Age group of 15-18 years has started on Monday all over the Nation as announced by PM Modi on 25th December.
Children in the age group of 15-18 years old are eligible for ‘Covaxin’ only, as informed by the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.
Online registration for vaccination of the age group of 15-18 years started on the CoWIN portal from January 1 2022 and now walk in registration can also be made directly by them through reaching to the Vaccination centers.
As per the guidelines by the Ministry of Health, States are being given an option to designate some separate COVID Vaccine centres (CVCs) specifically for the age group of 15-18 years and two separate Vaccine teams in the same CVC for this age group is to be ensured as per the protocols, moreover, separate ques are to be made for this age group and for the Adults to avoid confusion of right vaccination as the age group of 15-18 years old are eligible for Covaxin only.
After the Vaccination, Individuals will be monitored for 30 Minutes to analyse if there’s any adverse reactions of the Vaccine.
Beneficiaries of this age (15-18 years) can register online using an existing Co-WIN account or by creating a new account using a unique phone number.
Children in the age group of 15-18 years can register easily on the COWIN portal via there student ID card as an option other than Aadhaar card or other identity documents.
Moreover, Beneficiaries can also be registered at the vaccination sites by the verifier or the vaccinator in the facilitated registration mode and appointments can be booked online or on-site (walk-in)
According to estimates from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has at least 7.4 crore teens aged 15 to 18.
As per the latest government data, more than 12 lakh children registered on the Cowin portal till Sunday night.
