New Delhi, 1 May 2022: Vaishali Kala Kendra NOIDA on Friday 29th April 2022 on World Dance Day organised ‘Guru Pranam Utsav’ in the memory of Odissi Guru Srinath Raut ji at Triveni Kala Sangam , New Delhi.
Veteran Kathak Dancers Sisters PadmaShri Nalini and Kamalini Asthana were the Chief Guests .
World renowned Odissi exponent Jyoti Srivastava, Art Director, Vaishali Kala Kendra and her disciples presented solo and group Odissi and Kathak dance performances.Performances and music were indeed immersing and soulful.
“An artist is always at peace as they are satisfied with their talents. They have attained fulfillment as they have filled their inner emptiness and will not be distracted by external forces,” said the Veteran Artists Nalini and Kamlini in one voice .
With exhilarating and graceful maneuvering, several classical dance performances such as Kathak and Odissi were featured in the event based on mythological excerpts including Krishna Tandav.
Rahul Varshney, Shaily Chatterjee, Kaori Naka were some of the disciples of the institute whose performances got the audience hypnotized with their gestures, expressions and feet beats. Their talents Invited even the Veteran Artists vibe to the dance from their seats.
Jyoti Srivastava also took a live session demonstrating the right postures and Mudras with the budding artists of the Institute. She inspired the aspiring artists saying that ‘Nritya Mein Ras Ki Anubhuti Hoti Hai Aur Wahi Ras Hi Jeevan Hai.’ She also mentioned that classical dances are spiritually connected according to the shastras. She added that Bollywood dances are also good, but they are not related to the transcendent being.
While talking to Ten News, the veteran artists Nalini and Kamlini Astana commented, “the government can just play the role of a frame. But the main thing is done by gurus only. Recognition of the guru, organisation, Ngo, the young teachers plays a prominent role and it should be supported. The support of the government is not for the art, it is for the artists and the gurus.
We are working in the NEP (National Education Policy) and it is on a pregoessive level also. Dance and music will not be treated as a hobby anymore but as a part of the studies. As a subject, it will be devoted time and energy as well. By this, students will understand the vedas, mythology and natya shastra in a cultural capsule, they added.
The musical evening was graced by Music lovers Bharat Gauba, Chief Co-Ordinatar, Bharat Infotech and Infra Pvt Ltd; Gajanan Mali, Founder, Ten News Network; parents of young artists of Vaishali Kala Kendra amongst other classical music lovers.
