Vanijya Saptah: Manish Sisodia inaugurates Exports Conclave organized by EPCH

21st September, 2021, New Delhi – To celebrate the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” – a celebration to commemorate 75 years of Independence, the Department of Commerce, Govt. of India  is organizing ‘Vanijya Saptah’ from 20th to 26th September, 2021 on PAN India basis with a focus on economic growth, especially promotion of exports from India. In the said celebration, various events are being organized to showcase India’s exports and its potential in each State/ UT. The main aim of organizing events is to highlight the progress of the state in last 75 years, promote products and services exported from India, spread awareness of the support provided to exporters by the State Government at all levels and formation of roadmap ahead to achieve India’s export potentials. All Export Promotion Councils are assigned a particular State/UT for organizing ‘Vanijya Saptah’ and EPCH is one of the lead Council for organizing the event in the NCT of Delhi.

EPCH in close coordination with Office of Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India and Department of Industries in various States, also put-up  a publicity promotional booth at New Delhi during “Vanijya Utsav” held at The Theater Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.  Manish Sisodia, Dy. Chief Minister of NCT of Delhi inaugurated the Exporters’ conclave along with other senior officers.  Further, the EPCH is also participating in “Vanijya Saptah” at various places includes Bangalore, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Leh, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Vijayawada, informed Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General-EPCH.

He further said that the activities undertaken during the Vanijya Saptah would provide an opportunity to the exporters of various States to showcase their products and also offer opportunity to the youngsters to consider exports as viable employment option for them by starting export businesses and exploring  global market. The various Exporter’s Conclave organised would help identify the products with export potential from the districts including panel discussions to identify issues faced by the exporters in the district, stakeholder discussion/ strategies to improve export from the districts.

The Handicraft export figures for April-March of the current financial year 2020-21 are at Rs. 25679.98 crores (USD 3459.75 million) registering a marginal growth of 1.62 % (Rupee terms) and (-) 2.93 % (dollar terms) over the same period last year. However, the provisional Handicraft export figures for the April-August of the current financial year 2021-22 are at Rs. 12342.66 crores (USD 1667.54 million) registering a growth of 71.77% (Rupee terms) and 75.57% (dollar terms).
