In what could only be called as a narrow insight or slip of tongue, Senior BJP leader and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development said, “Is any individual paying for tax from his own pocket? I haven’t yet met anyone like that. Income tax is a tax on income only”.
Venkaiah Naidu also happens to be information and broadcasting minister in Union government. His information however seemed very flawed though it was broadcasted widely on the social media networks.
People showed their amusement and surprise over such ill-conceived statement. Many users commented with data, charts as well as tried to explain etymology of the words Income and Income tax to the honorable minister.
