New Delhi, 26th July 2023: Surinder Shinda, a well-known Punjabi singer, died on Wednesday. Surinder, who was being treated at a private hospital in Ludhiana, died on Wednesday morning after suffering from a chronic illness. He was in his mid-sixties.
Tributes and condolences have been pouring in for Surinder Shinda and his family. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann paid respect to the late musician in a message in Punjabi via Twitter.
Many people, including singers, actors, and politicians, expressed their sorrow at the loss of Surinder Shinda. Bhagwant Mann tweeted in Punjabi, “Very sad to hear about the death of famous vocalist Surinder Shindaji… Punjab’s strong voice has gone mute forever… Although Shinda ji is no longer physically present, his voice will live on… May God repose the departed soul at his feet and give the family the strength to accept…”
Sukhbir Singh Badal, the former chief minister of Punjab, also expressed condolences to Surinder Shinda’s family. He wrote on Twitter, “Deep condolences to the fans and the family of legendary Punjabi singer Surinder Shinda. His contribution to Punjabi music is priceless. He had an incredibly powerful voice. Shinda ji will be missed by millions of his fans around the world. May his soul rest in peace.”
Singer actor Harbhajan Mann also expressed his sorrow and tweeted, “The end of the golden era of Punjabi folk singing.”
Singer Ashok Mastie also stated, “An Era has come to a demise. Another Great Wall has come to an end after hearing the Sad News of a Voice Roared not only the Punjabi Music Industry but globally has come to a silence forever. May Baba Ji keep his soul in his own world. RIP Surinder Shinda Bai Ji . A voice which never ever will be forgotten.”
Putt Jattan De, Jatt Deona Morh, and Truck Balliya were all hit songs by the late Punjabi vocalist. Throughout his singing career, he performed several well-known songs and participated in various Punjabi films, including Putt Jattan De, Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da, and Badla Jatti Da. Surinder Shinda is survived by his son musician Maninder Shinda.
