National News (18/08/2026): Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan will undertake a two-day visit to Uttarakhand on August 19 and 20, 2026, during which he will participate in key programmes at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) in Dehradun and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.
According to the Vice-President’s Secretariat, the Vice-President will begin his Uttarakhand visit on August 19 by visiting IGNFA, Dehradun. During his visit, he will address and interact with Indian Forest Service (IFS) probationers of the 2025–27 batch.
The interaction is expected to provide the probationers an opportunity to hear the Vice-President’s views on public service, administration and the responsibilities associated with managing the country’s forest and environmental resources.
On August 20, Vice-President Radhakrishnan will travel to Mussoorie, where he will attend the Valedictory Ceremony of Phase-II of the IAS Professional Course for the 2024 batch at LBSNAA as the Chief Guest.
The ceremony will mark the completion of the second phase of professional training for the IAS officer trainees of the 2024 batch. The programme will bring together senior officials, academy faculty and officer trainees.
During his visit to LBSNAA, the Vice-President will also pay floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, honouring the contributions of the two prominent national leaders.
The two-day visit will focus on the Vice-President’s interaction with young civil service officers and probationers undergoing professional training, highlighting the importance of public service, administrative responsibility and leadership. The visit is part of the Vice-President’s official engagements in Uttarakhand and will cover two of the country’s premier institutions for training officers of the Indian Forest Service and Indian Administrative Service.
