Vidya Balan to return to Big Screen with Detective Role in ‘Neeyat’

Mumbai (India), 9th May 2023: Actor Vidya Balan is poised to return to the big screen with her next film, Neeyat, four years after her last theatrical release, Mission Mangal alongside Akshay Kumar.

The Shakuntala Devi crew will reunite for the murder-mystery, which will be directed by Anu Menon and produced by Prime Video and Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment.

A note describing the film was released by the makers, it read, “gripping suspense story of an unlikely detective, played by Balan, who investigates mysterious murders at a billionaire’s party where nothing is what it seems and all suspects hide a secret or two.”

Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Dipannita Sharma, Niki Walia, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, and Danesh Razvi also appear in the film.

Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala, and Girvani Dhyani wrote the screenplay for Neeyat, which was directed by Kausar Munir.
The film will be released in theatres on July 7.

Vidya Balan will return to theatres following a successful stay on digital with three praised films that aired on Prime Video- Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, and Jalsa.

After Akshay Kumar’s Diwali box office flop Ram Setu, this is the second theatrical co-production for both Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video.
