The moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived on September 5, 2026, when the Senior Citizens Forum, Vikram Vihar, Lajpat Nagar-4, inaugurated its newly renovated recreation centre.
The occasion was attended by distinguished members, office-bearers and members of the executive body. The event was graced by the presence of Neeraj Basoya, MLA, Kasturba Nagar Assembly Constituency, and Sharad Kapoor, Municipal Councillor, who assured the members of their continued support and cooperation for the welfare of senior citizens.
Among those present were Satya Pal Chakrsal, former president; Jyoti Bajaj, cultural secretary; RC Narang; KC Bajaj, joint secretary; BS Arora, treasurer; and KL Grover, vice president, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, H.S. Gulati, General Secretary, Vikram Vihar Senior Citizens Forum, said, “It is a moment of pride for all of us as we inaugurate the newly renovated senior citizens’ recreation centre. The Vikram Vihar Senior Citizens Centre was conceived in 2005 to provide a common meeting point for senior citizens from the neighbourhood. With the passage of time, we felt the need to renovate the premises, keeping the interests and requirements of our members in mind.
“We organise cultural and religious programmes on a regular basis, besides arranging outings, picnics, and both domestic and overseas trips for our esteemed members. The Senior Citizens Forum has evolved into an extended family for its members, providing an excellent platform to share our joys and sorrows. Our membership fee is also very nominal—just ₹500 for six months.”
Bansi Dhameja, President, Senior Citizens Forum, appreciated the contribution of the members towards the organisation’s growth and development.
“I must appreciate and acknowledge the efforts of all the members who have contributed in one way or another towards the betterment of the Senior Citizens Forum. Our key objective has always been to strengthen the spirit of bonhomie among members and celebrate important festivals such as Diwali, Gurpurab, Lohri and Holi together as one family,” he said.
The Vikram Vihar Senior Citizens Forum currently has 190 members, comprising residents of Vikram Vihar, National Park, Amar Colony and Dayanand Colony.
The inauguration ceremony concluded on a convivial note, with members being served tea and snacks as they came together to celebrate the newly renovated centre and the spirit of community that it represents.
