Call it fate or a missed opportunity, but Delhiā€™s famous senior citizen couple from Baba Ka Dhaba are back to their old outlet, trying to fend for themselves in a similar manner as they were doing last year, around this same time.

After receiving much help and donations, Kanta Prasad and his wife, are again back at that small dhaba, cooking food themselves and serving to walk-in customers.

Prasad and his dhaba had become famous overnight last year after a city YouTuber shared a video showing the octogenarian Prasad in tears, telling him how he struggled to make ends meet as business dried up. The viral video led to thousands of people making a beeline to the coupleā€™s eatery for food, selfies and donating money.

Soon, he opened a new restaurant, added a new floor to his house, settled his old debts and bought smartphones for himself and his children

However, now in a statement to a newspaper he claims that the restaurant business didnā€™t work as expected and his investment of Rs 6 lakh went in vain, as the monthly sales never crossed over Rs 40,000 ā€“ compared to double the expenses.

While he had earlier blamed the blogger, who made him famous, for allegedly cheating and not giving all money from help received, he has now blamed a social activist for the failure of his restaurant. The activist has reportedly helped him set the restaurant and claims that Kanta Prasad and his son didnā€™t pay attention to run the business and failed to deliver, leading to losses.
