Weeks after violence, Eid bonhomie seen among Hindus and Muslims in Jahangirpuri
New Delhi, 3 May 2022: In Jahangirpuri, Hindus and Muslims came together to celebrate the festival of Eid on Tuesday, setting a benchmark for unity and harmony.
People from both the communities exchanged hugs and sweets, and also thanked the deployed security personnel during the celebration.
“People in Jahangirpuri live in harmony and respect each other’s religion. We exchanged sweets and hugged each other and sent a message of harmony and peace on Eid,” said Tabrez Khan, Muslim community representative.
After violent communal clashes, during a hanuman jayanti procession, Hindus and Muslims have undertaken attempts, for instance, Tiranga Yatra, to give out a message of unity and peace.
“The situation is improving. Normalcy has returned to a large extent and we are expecting complete normalcy in the coming days,” he added.
