Mumbai, August 21, 2022: Mumbai Traffic Police’s control room received multiple messages on the WhatsApp helpline number on Saturday, threatening a ’26/11-type’ attack in Mumbai.

A 6-member team is believed to be working to execute a 26/11-type attack in India. Maharashtra’s Deputy CM and HM Devendra Fadnavis noted that ‘the threat has been taken very seriously and agencies have been informed of all measures to investigate the threat matter.

Mumbai’s Crime Branch has launched an investigation into the threat messages.

“The threat message was sent via WhatsApp on a Mumbai Police traffic control line from a Pakistan-based phone number. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started the investigation to trace the number”, said Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar.
