Yoga is a spiritual art to know oneself as to how this body functions and how it is related to soul(Aatma) which is a part of Parmatma(God) and how he regulates this universe and each and every soul and how to finally attain it (getting Nirvana). Yoga includes the knowledge of working of different parts of the body and how those can be controlled to keep this body healthy. There are eight Yogic exercises which constitute Yoga but normally only two viz. Pranayam controlling breath (Swaas) and Physical Asans relating to the upkeep of health are associated as YOGA. The rest of the six yogic exercises are for those who master these two exercises.

The popularity of Yoga is mainly because it has never been bonded under the conservativeness of caste, creed, colour, sex , religion, community, area or language and as such it has been universally accepted. No wonder that the U.N. decided to celebrate 21st June as the International Yoga Day. It is being celebrated world over with great enthusiasm especially in all important cities, clubs and many Institutions of the country and in particular in New Delhi where the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Swami Ramdev are leading. Everybody in the World desires peace and happiness and yoga is one such instrument which creates peace, love and happiness bringing all communities at one platform to work together and take benefits as desired.or required. It makes no discrimination any where. Let us hope more people in the world take it advantage and live a healthy life in peace.

According to the general practice of Yoga a person is happy if in one’s body the three humors in the body viz. wind, Bile and Phlegm are in equal quantity, the fire of the stomach is normal(Neither very less nor very high), seven substances containing the body – Essence, blood, flesh, fat, bones, marrow and sperm are in the required quantity, Urination and excretion is normal, the Ten Senses viz. Ears, Nose, Eyes, Skin, Taste, Rectum, Genital organs, Hands, legs and Tongue and above all the Mind and their ruler Soul remain happy . They say that three pillars to attain this happiness are Diet, Sleep and Celibacy on which the whole body rests and one who controls these three items is a true yogi.

Now one can understand as to how different Asans are related to different parts of the body and strengthen those parts and help in curing certain weaknesses or diseases which those parts might have attained. This is where they say that every disease can be cured by yoga as by performing a particular yoga the affected part can be reached and cured by bringing its function normal. These Asans rejuvenate dead tissues and new tissues and cells are formed.

In Pranayam we inhale and exhale breath and try to control it with various bandhs prescribed as and when required to regulate it. It helps in humor related problems and making mind sharp to concentrate and help in meditation later. It increases willpower and spiritual realization bringing mental peace and satisfaction.
The Yoga Asans need to be done properly under the guidance of instructors so that they bring the correct and desired results. Let us wish and hope that more and more people take advantage of this valuable technique which costs nothing but gives so much of relief and makes one healthy and happy.
