New Delhi (India), 11th May 2023: White House Spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed a state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US.

She added in an official statement that the visit is a sign of the deepening US-India relationship. ‘The leaders will have the opportunity to review strong bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, including technology, trade, industry and deepening people-to-people connections,’ she said.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit the United States on June 22, accepting President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden’s invitation. The visit also includes a state dinner on the schedule. PM Modi and President Biden are also set to reflect on their ‘shared vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific and discuss opportunities to expand and consolidate the Quad engagement.’

This comes as the leaders look to enhance their partnerships to further build a coalition force in reaction to growing Chinese influence. Both countries have been working together on multiple issues. Most recent initiatives include focusing on critical and emerging technology, a plan to share advanced defence and computing technology, and the joint production of General Electric jet engines.
