WIC India is all set for the 2nd edition of Dehradun Community Literature Festival
For the lovers of books and literary discourses

WIC India, Dehradun is all set to host the 2nd edition of Dehradun Community Literature Festival on 19, 20, 21 & 22 April. The 4-day festival will feature renowned authors like Devdutt Pattanaik, Nayantara Sahgal, Karan Johar, Kavita Kane, Jatin Das, Sudha Menon, Arundhathi Subramaniam, A. N. D. Haksar, Dr Rakhshanda Jalil, Jaithirth (Jerry) Rao, Nandita Haksar, and Santhini Govindan among many others, and will have interesting sessions with speakers as Sonali Bendre, Hindol Sengupta, Durjoy Dutta, Gurcharan Das and others.

The curtain-raiser was well received on Saturday, 25th March 2017 with veteran musician and sarod maestro, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, launching his book, Master on Masters, which is a deeply personal book about the lives and times of some of the greatest icons of Indian classical music.

Nazia Y Izuddin, President WIC India, Dehradun and Founder, Dehradun Community Literature Festival thinks Dehradun has a lot to offer, “”The second edition of The Dehradun Community Literature Festival is dedicated to consummating our love for Dehradun and our love for literature. With this edition, the winds, the spring, the trees and the flowers of Dehradun valley will become one with the world of global literature, and we hope that this will establish Dehradun as a leader and key agent of change in leading the modern literary world.”

Expecting over 12000 visitors this year at the festival, WIC India has organized special activities other than the discussion and reading sessions. Along with interacting with best-selling authors at the venue, visitors will be treated to evenings filled with special music performances.

The festival has been conceptualized by Mukta Khandelwal, Vice President, Office of Programs and Events, WIC India, who remarked, “Literature connects culture and people.It has been our constant endeavor at WIC India to promote various arts, culture, and literature in the valley of Doon. The 1st edition of DCLF in April 2016 was a humble start and this year with the 2nd edition we intend to give much more to the residents of Dehradun – finest literature, national and international speakers, some much exciting names from Bollywood and a world class experience at the festival.”

Adding to that Rishi Suri, Editor – International Affairs, The Daily Milap and Director, Dehradun Community Literature Festival said, “I can think of no better place to organize a Literary Festival than Dehradun. This region is full of historic educational institutions, great writers, and thinkers. It’s been a learning experience and an absolute delight to meet and learn from the amazing residents of Dehradun and around.”
