The people deputed for the safety of common men are not safe themselves, if a case of abduction on Wednesday can be taken as an example. Jagbir Singh, a sub-inspector with Faridabad Police, presently posted at Palwal and residing at Police Lines in Faridabad. Gyanwati (48), wife of sub-inspector Jagbir Singh was walking in a park near the police lines, where the family is residing, on the evening of Wednesday. She took two rounds of the park and noticed two people standing by a car parked on the road near the park. The duo started following her while she was on her third round of the usual walk. The duo used her dupatta to prevent any scream of Gyanwati and kidnapped her in their car. The drove the car near the Canal for about five minutes and then stopped it. The duo threw the lady in the canal and fled from the scene. She was carried away by the waves for about a kilometer when some Passer by noticed her screaming for help. She was fished out of the canal by the locals and rushed to a private hospital in serious condition. Her son Pradeep called upon his father and narrated the incident. The victim is said to be out of danger and is recovering in the hospital. A case was registered at Sector-31 police station under sections 365,307,120B and 34 of IPC. SHO Devender Singh informed that the police are investigating the matter from all angles. No enmity has been reported by the Sub-Inspector husband. However, the victim informed the police that the kidnappers were in their twenties. No breakthrough was, however, achieved by the police till late evening on Thursday. It was about two months back, when a police constable fired on himself and committed suicide inside the police station complex. That case also remained unresolved even pertaining to one of the colleagues of the investigating cops. This also raises suspicion that is there something wrong in the department or are the men in uniform involved in the activities not matching their job profile? If the smoke is there in the air, there must be fire hidden somewhere, said sources.
