Wife refuses to return, man stabs her to death

Ghaziabad: A 45-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed four times by her husband at her sister’s house in Arthala early on Sunday morning and succumbed to her injuries. The husband, Rakesh (48), is on the run, police said.According to the police, Sumitra had been living with her sister Pinky for the last four months following a quarrel with her husband.Rakesh, who used to paint buildings and houses on contract, lived in Nandgram area of Ghaziabad. The reason behind the marital discord is not yet clear, the cops said.”Rakesh had visited Pinky’s home on four occasions in the last few weeks to convince Sumitra into returning to her in-laws house in Nandgram.

He visited Pinky’s house around 6.30am on Sunday to again try and convince her. However, a fight ensued between the two during which Rakesh allegedly stabbed her,” said a senior police official.Sumitra was rushed to the MMG District Hospital in Sanjay Nagar in a grievously injured condition, where she soon succumbed to her injuries. Police said Sumitra had been stabbed at four times with a sharp-edged object.
