The 3-day Windergy India 2022 International Conference & Trade Fair was participated by H.E. Freddy Svane, Danish Ambassador to India, Shri V.Sunil Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Kannada & Culture, Government of Karnataka, Shri Bhagwanth Khuba, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy & Chemicals and Fertilizers, and other energy exports from Government and Industry.
At the inauguration Mr. Tulsi Tanti, Chairman, IWTMA said, it is a matter of pride with that Wind Industry is a true example of ‘Make in India or Atmanirbhar Bharat”. This mature industry manufactures turbine at the lowest cost in the world. The industry has invested Rs.25,000 Crores to create 15 GW annual manufacturing capacity with 70 to 80% localization. The eco-system is supported by over 4000 MSME industries and is a job creator for educated rural youth.
The major step in the future is to harness energy from offshore with a potential of 100 GW. The power from RE that can be transformed into transportable power in the form of Green Hydrogen, Ammonia and Methane.
The three-day clean energy technology and service exhibition will concurrently host a series of high-level conferences. The attendees will gain by meeting over 150 companies displaying their products, solutions and technology prowess at the show. With 2 days of intense deliberations along with the 3-day exhibition, the conference offers unmatched networking and business opportunities for participants.
It may be recalled that in order to reduce dependency on fossil fuel and achieve the target of net-zero emission by 2070, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at COP26 (November 2021) pledged five key targets towards fulfilment of this objective. These include: (i) Increasing country’s non-fossil energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030 (ii) 50 percent of country’s energy requirements to come from renewable energy by 2030 (iii) Reduction of total projected carbon emissions by one billion tons from now till 2030 (iv) By 2030, India will reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by more than 45 percent (v) By the year 2070, India will achieve the target of Net-Zero.
And, wind energy will play a pivotal role in achieving the above objectives and has already made impressive progress in terms of capacity addition, manufacturing capabilities and other areas. Currently, 27% of the total installed power capacity in the country comes from renewable energy, of which 37.73% is contributed by Wind Energy (40.13 GW). India has fixed a target of 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022. This would include 100 GW from Solar, 60 GW from Wind, rest will be from Bio-power and small Hydropower.
Windergy India 2022, the only comprehensive trade event for the wind energy sector, is being organised by the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) and PDA Trade fairs Pvt Ltd.
