The Cyber Crime Cell/EOW of Delhi Police organized a workshop at Conference Hall, Barakhamba Road on ‘Cyber Safety Awareness’ for School Computer Teachers. It was attended by more than 121 Computer Teachers, Principals from over 114 schools spread across Delhi. It was the 3rd such Workshop for School Teachers and in total, 423 computer teachers from 302 schools spread across Delhi have attended these three workshops. Kamraj and Special Commissioner of Police, Operations, Sh. Deependra Pathak also graced the occasion. The workshop aimed to share and to familiarize the teachers about a standardized cyber safety awareness module that has been prepared by the Cyber Cell of Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police.

It has been observed that school going children are more vulnerable to cyber offences due to their inquisitiveness, curiosity and inadequate awareness about online threats and safe online habits. In order to create awareness amongst vulnerable sections esp. school children, Delhi Police has launched this initiative to engage with school computer teachers and seek their cooperation and support in sensitizing the school going teenagers on this very important issue.  In this workshop, the Awareness Module comprising of presentations, short films, videos, quizzes, FAQs, and handouts on DOs and DONTs, was presented before the school teachers and its salient aspects were explained. This was followed by a Q&A session for the teachers where several doubts concerning cyber threats and safe online habits were cleared by technical experts of Delhi Police.

The objectives of the Workshop and the quality of the Awareness Module were highly appreciated by the participating teachers. Delhi Police aims to build upon this novel initiative and strengthen its engagement with schools’ Computer Teachers so that they can act as force multipliers in the collective fight against the growing menace of cyber crime.

On this occasion, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, also highlighted the importance of effective detection and investigation of cybercrime complaints/cases in addition to the various preventive measures being undertaken.
