The Health and I club of DPS R.K. Puram celebrated the World Red Cross Day on 08 May, 2017. The chief guests for the event were Professor Dr (Prof) Arun Kapoor, Laprascopic Gastrointestinal, Baritric & Onco surgeon at LHMC & RML Hospitals, New Delhi and Dr. Anupa Pokhrel, Senior resident in Transfusion Medicine, RML Hospital, New Delhi.

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the guests by Mrs. Anita Singh, Vice Principal. This was followed by an enthralling performance by the school choir and a dance showcasing the objectives and values of the Red Cross foundation. The Theatre Club of the school presented a nukkadnatak which was very insightful.

The Vice Principal, Mrs. Anita Singh then addressed the gathering. In her words, “This day is significant in our lives.” She asked everyone to acknowledge the people who are suffering around the world and join hands to help fight theirproblems.
Professor Arun Kapoor, the chief guest for the day familiarized the students with the idea of the World Red Cross Day. He talked about the history and future plans of the Red Cross Foundation. A short video clip showcasing the story of the Red Cross Foundation and its objectives was played which helped the students know more about the revolutionary ideas of the Foundation.

He also gave away souvenirs as a token of thanks. Dr. Anupa Pokhrel took over and briefed the audience about the blood donation services prevailing in India. Mrs. Jyoti Sharma, the event coordinator, extended the vote of thanks and expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped in making the event a success.

Several competitions relating to the day were organized by the Health and I Club to generate awareness about the cause. Collage work – Yogita- VI B-1st, Jasnoor Kaur-VI E-2nd, Tiya Mehtani-VI I-3rd. Painting Competition- Shoubhika Biswas- X A-1st, Divyasha- IX A-2nd, Yashvi-IX A-3rd. Photography Competition- Vaibhav Raj Dhawan-1st, Kartik Gupta-2nd, Ishika Gupta-3rd.
A Blood Donation camp was also organized in the school premises where the Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal set the ball rolling by donating blood followed by the teachers of DPS R.K. Puram who actively participated and contributed to this cause thereby making it a day to remember.
