New Delhi, 10th June 2923: Suhas Palshikar and Yogendra Yadav, political scientists, have petitioned NCERT to remove their names as main advisors from all Political Science textbooks, claiming that the rationalisation process has “mutilated” the volumes beyond recognition and rendered them “academically dysfunctional.”

The academics stated that they are too embarrassed to be mentioned as the chief advisors for these textbooks. They were the chief advisors for the original Political Science books for classes 9 to 12.

They justified their move by saying that while the modifications are made in the name of ‘rationalisation’, no ‘pedagogic rationale’ was used while making the decisions.

This comes as they refer to the recent changes made to the political science textbooks where topics of democracy and political history were cut. The academics added that they were never even consulted about these changes and said they ‘fully disagree’ with them.

They added that the frequent and serial deletions do not seem to have any logic to please the powers that be.
