Gurgaon, April 13: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s anti-Romeo squad inspired Operation Durga in Haryana as the state government launched its very own anti-Romeo squad to curb crime against women in the state. Under the operation to catch hold of Romeos lurking in the streets, the police teams nabbed 72 people on the very first day from across the state.

As per the reports, as many as 24 teams were formed by Chief Minister’s Flying Squad. It nabbed nearly 72 people from all the districts for allegedly indulging in crimes against women, an official spokesman said. In March, the flying squad had rounded up four couples in Gurgaon during a statewide operation.

In Gurgaon, Haryana, the CID team carried out a ‘sanitizing operation’ at public colleges, schools, bus stands and railway stations to prevent ‘anti-social elements’ from harassing girls. As per an official, four men were arrested by the flying squad and were handed over to police for further action. The flying squad comprise woman personnel, including nine Sub- inspectors of Police, 14 Assistant Sub-inspectors, six Head Constables and 13 constables, besides other police officers from each district.
