AAP alleges irregularity in rehabilitation of families affected by Sardar Sarovar Dam’s gate closing

30 Gates of the Sardar Sarovar dam are closed by the order of the government. The water level in the reservoir has raised by 17 feet, from122 to 139. This will result in submergence of 193 villages, more than 18000 families, more than one lakh people.

Government has said that it had made arrangements for the rehabilitation of the families who would be affected by the closure of Reservoir gate, but, AAP today raised question.

“Government has lied in affidavit submitted, before the court, about the consent of villagers and rehabilitation of those who would be displaced.
Only 7% have given the consent,” AAP leader Ashotosh said.

The court has ordered people to vacate their homes, as the entire are is going to be submerged, till July 31.

“People are not against the development but unless they are rehabilitated, how would they be able to leave their homes. Where would they go.”

AAP also alleged that in order to win Gujrat elections, BJP is using Shivraj Singh Chauhan, to get things done in Madhya Pradesh.

“Chauhan is not even engaging with the people who elected him. He is apathetic and is only spreading his party.”
