The occasion of 28th anniversary of Birla Institute of Management Technology was commemorated by the play ’Charkavyuh’, from the epic Mahabharata, directed by Atul Satya Kaushik, casting Nitish Bharadwaj as Lord Krishna. The play aimed to use mythology to reflex bafflement of life and compare seven warriors to the seven sins of life.

The function preceded with immense preparations by the director, relentlessly working on creating the perfect set for the play. The director of the play Atul Satya kaushik refused to eat or rest until everything was to his perfect satisfaction. The event started off with Atul Satya Kaushik, introducing the play .

The play opened with the entry of Lord Krishna, who expressed his grave concern over the war wrecked earth. The premise of the play revolved around the deadly war scene where Abhimanyu, the courageous son of Arjuna, agreed to enter the complex ‘Chakravyuh’ even though he didn’t know how to get out of it. Play has revealed the outcome of the confrontation between Abhimanyu, alone, against the seven warriors, in a flashback in the course of interaction between Yudhishthir and Bheeshma. With the story of Abhimanyu and the ‘Chakravyuh’, the play tried to show that there is more to the story than what is represented in the mythical text. The story is very much relevant in today`s time as ‘Chakravyuh’ has many lessons for us. This life that we are living is itself a ‘Chakravyuh’ and we are all Abhimanyu`s of our battles.

Each actor was worth noting and the way they created a deadly war-scene on stage was commendable. The use of apt offstage vocal and instrumental music boosted the mood of given scenes. Smoke with lighting effects imparted a magical sensation to the dramatically vibrant scenes.

The event ended with extension of vote of thanks,  by the Director of the college, Mr.Harivansh Chaturvedi followed by an introduction of the actors by Mr. Atul Satya Kaushik, the director of the play. The play was a huge success with Nitish Bharadwaj delivering an outstanding performance. The event was overall a huge accomplishment.
