Digitization has improved delivery of Justice: Union Law minister

NEW DELHI : Union Law and Justice Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad today said that government has made efficient use of Digital platform to improve accessibility and delivery of Justice.

“We have made apt use to digital platforms to ensure that judiciary become more accessible and transparent,” he said while speaking at a press conference in New Delhi.

To ensure justice delivery system functions properly in the country, he said, the appointment of judges and other judicial officers were fast-tracked.

“During the three years of our government, we have appointed 17 supreme court judges, 249 high court judges,” he said, “In 2016 alone, 126 high court judges were appointed which is highest in a given year since 1989.”

The Union Law and Justice Minister also said that the Centre is of the view that cases pending for over 10 years must be immediately disposed off. “For that I will write to all high cour judges and ask them to ensure that the cases pending for ten or more years are expedited,” he said.
