NEW DELHI : All India Farmer’s Liberation committee, an amalgam of more than 135 farmer unions was today formed in New Delhi. “The committee will work to safeguard the farmer’s rights across the country,” said V M Singh, national convenor, AIFLC.

To raise awareness among farmers for their rights, campaign for the committee has decided to start an awareness campaign that will kick-start from Mandsour UP on July 6. “To raise awareness among farmers, we have decided to start a grand awareness rally in order to unite the farmer at the national level and to make our demands met,”  said Yogindre Yadav, a farmer rights activist.

They have put forward two immediate demands to the government to be addressed that include implementation of Swaminathan report and exemption of farmer debts. “Successive governments have failed to implement the swaminathan ayog according to which a farmer should be given fifty per cent profit on the cost price of his produce. Not we have united and we won’t back off till our demands are met,” he said.

It is pertinent to mention that police shot down seven farmers in Mandsour Madya Pradesh who were protesting against the increasing farmer suicides because of wrong government policies.
