The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to give an urgent hearing to the Centre’s plea challenging the Delhi high court order terming the home ministry’s May 21 notification on the Delhi lieutenant governor’s powers as “suspect”. It posted the case for Friday.

Appearing before a bench of Justices AK Sikri and UU Lalit, additional solicitor general Maninder Singh said the order had brought uncertainty over administration of the national capital, which was witnessing a tug-of-war between the Arvind Kejriwal-led government and LG Najeeb Jung over jurisdiction.
