Ever since she forayed into the beauty business some four decades ago, Shahnaz Husain has inspired countless people all over the globe to be self reliant by getting skilled in various beauty and wellness courses.
If Shahnaz, the visionary entrepreneur has wowed the world with her exclusive natural and herbal based beauty and wellness range of products for the last many years, she has excelled equally well as a philanthropist.
A classic instance in this context being her recent visit to the Delhi Blind School situated at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, New Delhi. She was highly impressed to see the students enthusiastically engaged in various vocational activities such as soap making, candle and diya making, stitching, book binding, paper craft, chair caning, acupressure, packaging etc. After greeting and interacting with the students, she personally served food and cake to them. The students were excited to have Shahnaz amongst them, and so was the legendary Beauty Ambassador.
While every moment spent at the Blind School was truly cherishing, what really touched Shahnaz’s heart was when the students used voice activated mobile phones to take ‘selfies’ with her.
Terming the ‘selfie’ pictures taken by the students as the ‘Picture of the Decade’, she lauded the students for all their passion and positive approach towards life.

Buoyed by the positive attitude towards life, Shahnaz announced her plans of launching a new beauty training school for the students in the premises of the Blind School. With an objective of empowering the students to be financially independent, Shahnaz shared her plans of not just offering free of cost beauty training skills, but also promised Shamute and Shasight diplomas respectively for the speech and hearing, as well as the visually challenged students. Drawing a loud applause from the students and the staff, she assured them of all possible help and cooperation from her organization.
The teachers from the Shahnaz Husain Beauty Academy are specially trained to teach students who are physically challenged. The Shahnaz Husain Group aims to train the students in hand-made soap making and the label will mention that it has been made by the visually challenged. The proceeds will eventually go towards their overall welfare.
Her commendable initiative of writing a beauty book, which has been put into Braille, has been widely appreciated by one and all.
Shahnaz has incidentally played a pivotal role in helping provide career opportunities to many physically challenged students.
Sometime ago, Shahnaz had taken the students to Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet the President of India H.E. Shri Pranab Mukherjee. It was a memorable occasion and a dream come true for the students. Sharing her thoughts on the same, Shahnaz says, “The visually impaired students may be physically challenged by fate, but have proved themselves through devotion and dedication to work. They are totally focused on the work at hand, giving it their full attention and effort. My philanthropic work has remained the nerve centre of my entrepreneurial success. It simply cannot be measured in material terms.”

Established in the year 1944, the Blind Relief Association focuses on providing education and training to the visually challenged, enabling them to realize their potential and be self reliant.
