New Delhi, 21st May 2023: On Sunday, the second edition of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) began, with over 14 lakh students took the important exam for undergraduate admissions.

Unlike last year, the exam will be administered in three shifts this year. The exam was originally planned to take place from May 21 to May 31, however the National Testing Agency (NTA) opted to extend the timetable by at least four days to accommodate the increased number of candidates.

M Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), recommended students to answer questions only if they are certain of the correct answer.

Over 14 lakh applications were submitted for the CUET-UG this year, representing a 41% increase over the inaugural edition last year.

In terms of applicants, CUET-UG remains the country’s second-largest admission test. In the inaugural round of CUET-UG, 12.5 lakh students registered and 9.9 lakh submitted applications.
