Mumbai, 21st May 2023: IRS officer Sameer Wankhede and Shah Rukh Khan’s leaked chats are in violation of the conduct rules, confirmed NCB officials.

NCB authorities emphasise that engagement between the investigative officers and the family members of the ‘accused’ is against the code of conduct.

WhatsApp conversations between Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and the officer were presented as a part of evidence in the ongoing corruption cases against the officer.

“Sameer Wankhade’s chats in court are in violation of NCB conduct rules.” “How can an investigating officer have such conversations with the accused’s family?” said an NCB officials on the condition of anonymity.

When Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was detained in the drugs-on-cruise case, Sameer Wankhede, the former NCB Mumbai zone chairman, was accused of demanding a 25 crore payment from him. The bribe was allegedly handled through KP Gosavi, an impartial witness in the case who was granted carte blanche by Wankhede.

The CBI stated in the FIR against Wankhede, filed two years after the drugs-on-cruise case, that a sum of Rs 50 lakh was handed to KP Gosavi.
