25-year-old Strangles mother, commits suicide, leaves 77-page suicide note citing Gita

New Delhi, 7 September 2022: A 25-year-old boy strangled his mother, days before committing suicide with a knife in Budh Vihar, New Delhi.

Upon investigation, Police found upon that the mother’s body was highly decomposed, as the boy had kept it for three days using perfumes to control the smell, however, it still raised suspicion among the neighbours.

It was when the mother’s friend had called on Sunday where he said that his mother had died and he was killing himself, who then immediately informed the police. When the police reached the spot and broke into the house, they found mother’s “highly decomposed” body in the bathroom along with the son’s body.

He also left a 77-page long suicide note where he mentioned that he was suffering from depression and loneliness as he was jobless for months.

The police officer stated that since his childhood he had been lonely and had no friends. In the letter, he also wrote about his father and the problems he had with him. After his death, he and his mother were undergoing financial problems and were also not well.

He has also mentioned that he wanted to set his mother free from all the problems, so he had killed her. First by strangling her with a chain and later slit her throat as he had read that “the soul would not attain salvation if a person was strangled”.

Additionally, he also cited Bhagavad Gita, claiming that he sprinkled ‘Ganga Jal’ on her body so that she can attain salvation, police said.
