39 premature, low-birth-weight babies in Noida saved from blindness

Noida, 13th October, 2022: After eye screening, Noida-based ICARE Eye Hospital diagnosed 39 out of 396 premature and low-birth-weight babies with advanced stages of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
The infants received immediate treatment from eye doctors after diagnosis.
ROP is a disease that tends to result in blindness if not detected and treated in time. According to studies from various Indian states, nearly 10% to 15% of all premature babies have advanced ROP. Babies born with this condition might become blind in less than a month if untreated.
Newborn infants have been screened at Noida’s Apollo Hospital, Yathartha Hospital, Felix Hospital, and Motherhood Hospital, in addition to those were referred to ICARE Eye Hospital.
