55 year old man arrested for molesting 5 year old girl

Police have arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly molesting a five-yearold girl from Jarcha area of Greater Noida on Tuesday morning .
He has been booked under Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act .
According to police, the accused Navin Sharma (55) was picked up by the police team on Tuesday morning, a day after the parents of the girl lodged a complaint against the man.
Sharma is a farmer in a village under Jarcha police station of Greater Noida . The girl also stays in the same village and is enrolled in a government primary school.
“We arrested Sharma from his residence after we received a complaint from the father of the girl. He said the accused molested her in the fields in the village. We are questioning the accused,” Shalendra Pratap Singh, station house officer, Jarcha police station, said.
According to the complaint submitted by the girl’s parents, the incident took place around 4pm on Monday. The accused allegedly lured her with a candy, took her to the fields and molested her.
“The girl’s father said Sharma was known to her as they are from the same village. The girl followed him to the fields as he is an elderly man and it was there that the accused sexually molested her. The FIR was lodged on Monday evening and we swiftly acted on the complaint and nabbed Sharma,” Singh said.
Sharma has been booked under sections 354 and 354 (A) of the IPC and sections 7, 8 of the POCSO Act.
