9TH EDITION OF IFJAS 2016 BRINGS IN NORTH EASTERN AND EASTERN REGIONS ARTISTIC EXPRESSION
The three day event on Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories is being held from 21 – 23 July, 2016 at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. More 250 exhibitors are displaying exquisite designs of fashion jewellery and accessories and buyers from more than 40 countries have come to source their requirement from the fair.
One of the attractions in IFJAS 2016 is theme pavilion of regional flavour of North Eastern and Eastern region said Mr. Rakesh Kumar, ED – EPCH.
Jewellery from Eastern states included filigree, wooden and metal jewellery, crocheted, beaded, jute, paddy and imitation jewellery among others.
Participants from North Eastern states brought in crafts like cane and bamboo, fashion jewellery and accessories made from paper, paddy and egg trays, silver and gold ornaments, jewellery made from stone, plastic and bone beads, handloom products like wool cotton, cotton bags, shawls, Naga jewellery etc. to display. Craftsmanship from North Easter Region is simple yet it has uniqueness of its own. The arts and crafts of this region are distinctively different from arts and crafts of other regions in India .
Mr. Rakesh Kumar further informed that for the first time assistance of designers is being provided to the artisans, craftspersons and entrepreneurs of North Eastern Region under Marketing Support and Services Scheme of O/o Development Commissioner Handicrafts. These designers shall be helping them to develop their crafts as per trends prevalent in International markets.
The objective of setting of theme pavilion is to provide platform to artisans, craftspersons and exporters at this kind of product specific exhibitions being organised by EPCH as due to fund and other constraints cannot go aborad to participate in International exhibitions and fairs. This is an ideal platform for them to showcase their exquisite products to the International buying community.
