The late-night chats and discussions at Jawaharlal Nehru University’s hostels are now under threat. Proposed changes in the hostel manual include an increase in fine from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for “unauthorized” students -who are not residents- found in hostels after 11pm.

If this actually happens, it could be a huge blow to students of jus as many of their ‘events’ begin after dinner in the hostel mess and continue till late in the night.
