The education system through Information and Communication Technology has been the call of the day and most the colleges are associated with it to improve the quality of education. Similarly, most of the Corporates today are investing a hefty amount to promote the same by various Research and Developmental activities.
This seminar has been another mile stone put by DGI to promote ICT. The event started with the felicitation of the guests by our Director Sir, Prof. S K Bagga. Thereafter the students were introduced to the background of the Mr. Vaish.
Mr.Vaish started off his presentation by telling the students about the background of Ericsson. He shared a very interesting fact that in one of the very old movies way back in the year 1903, the telephone set used was manufactured by Ericsson. BY this he tried to give a message to the students that the company is very old and strives to be there for many many years to come. Post that he advised the students about the working culture of Ericsson, Its Global trends and the old and new technologies the company is working on. He advised that the company invests about 35000 crores annually to promote Research and Development and strives to optimize even the newest technology.
He further explained the students, the fundamental of call drops, GSM and CDMA Technology. A very interesting thing about Ericsson which he shared with the students is that, the mobile network called SPRINT in the US, is all operated by Ericsson based out of engineers in India. So there is no engineer in the US to operate the network but all the things are done OFF shore. By giving examples and by drawing various diagrams, he explained beautifully the working nature of the networks and how they operate.
Thereafter, he played a puzzle with the students in which they were supposed to calculate the timing regarding the travel of light. By this example, he explained the student the fundamental of how the voice transmits from the network to ears and vice versa.
In the end, he took up the question and answers session with the students and some of the students presented their ideas to the delegates.
Ms.Prachi Agarwal, TPO, delivered Vote of Thanks. DGI Director, Prof.S.K.Bagga also thanked the delegates for such a wonderful and informative session.
