Anurag Thakur questions Fmr Home Minister Chidambaram’s statement on Afzal Guru & UPA’s claims on Ishrat Jahan

Shri Anurag Thakur , Lok Sabha M.P. & BJYM President, raised the issue of former Home Minister Chidambaram’s statement on terrorist Afzal Guru. Chidambaram had in an interview stated that Afzal Guru may have been innocent and that there were “grave doubts about the extent of his (Afzal) involvement”. It was during UPA Governments tenure that terrorist Afzal Guru had been convicted and hanged to death.

Raising questions in the Lok Sabha today, Anurag Thakur asked the former Home Minister why he had an “honest opinion” so late after the hanging of Afzal and the end of UPA’s tenure. He further asked why Mr Chidambaram remained silent and did not convey to this to his party leadership? Sh Anurag Thakur went on to say that Mr Chidambaram must answer why a conspiracy was hatched by the UPA Government to target and eliminate its political opponents?

Sh Anurag Thakur demanded an answer as to why IB and RAW were misused by UPA? He further asked who would pay for wrongly jailing officers and why they were made to suffer for UPA’s misdeeds? He went on to say that Supreme Court had raised questions about the same CBI officer whom 2G and Coal Scam accused met. He questioned the UPA and its Ministers act of turning a blind eye to the whole episode and being extremely lax on national security matters.

Also replying on the recent comments of Former Home Secretary that there was pressure from ‘political level’ to change affidavit in Ishrat Jahan case, Sh Anurag Thakur said that under UPA evidence was tampered with and a sustained media trial utilizing state machinery was used to malign political opponents, referring to the then Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi.

Sh Anurag Thakur had earlier on 24th Feb, 2016 in the Lok Sabha raised the issue of the JNU anti-national and pro-Afzal brigade and questioned Rahul Gandhi’s open support to them.
