Woman found dead in kitchen after tea trip to son’s shop
GHAZIABAD: A 57-year-old woman was allegedly strangled by intruders inside her house in Ghaziabad on Thursday. The murder took place between 12.45pm and 1pm in her ground-floor apartment in D Block of Lajpat Nagar that falls under the Sahibabad police station limits.The police have registered an FIR against unknown people under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. The case was lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s son, Rajiv Verma (32), who owns a jewellery store in Lajpat Nagar.The woman used to live in the rented house along with Rajiv.
According to the police, Rajiv owns a third-floor flat in L Block of Lajpat Nagar, which is occupied by his wife. Rajiv had been living separately with his mother allegedly because of constant bickering in the family. The deceased woman, identified by the police as Sunita Verma, was alone at home at the time of the murder.According to Rajiv’s statement to police, a neighbour called him on his mobile phone around 1pm saying that the door of their ground-floor house was ajar and the television set was running at full blast.Rajiv has told cops that when he reached home, he found his mother lying inside the kitchen with a stole looped tightly around her neck.
