DEHRADUN LIGHTS UP BLUE TO SUPPORT AUTISTIC CHILDREN
Dehradun: To enable adults and children with autism to work and live as independently as possible, Pacific Group in collaboration with Arunima Foundation organised an innovative program to provide them a platform to dance, sing on the autism spectrum. Autism spectrum disorder is characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.
It was all about music and colour for children at Pacific Mall this Sunday. An event was organized at the Pacific mall where autistic children were invited from the Arunima Foundation to indulge them in games and playful activities. Around 100 children participated in various programmes which included dancing, singing, and assorted games.
The motive of the event was to end the discrimination prevailing between the autistic and normal children and encourage a healthy social growth. At this event, a special message was given to the audience that instead of making fun of them and treating them differently, they should be treated specially. Autistic children performed on various bollywood songs, and audience enjoyed with the kids. Also the kids had a great time playing games. The children were elated by receiving gifts and spending a joyful day. The whole event was well appreciated by the visitors and many complimented the mall administration for organizing such a noble as well as interactive activity.
“We know that people with autism have a wide variety of interests and abilities,” said Abhishek Bansal, Executive Director, Pacific Group “and it’s important that the opportunities available to them reflect that diversity.”
