Handicraft exports jump 35 per cent in October
India’s handicraft exports jumped about 35 per cent to $ 112.6 million in October 2013, on back of rising demand in western markets like US and Europe.
In October last year, these exports stood at $ 83.48 million, according to the data provided by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).
“With the revival in western markets, exporters are getting more orders from traditional markets like the US and Europe. Also, there is a good demand in emerging markets like China, Latin America and Africa,” EPCH Executive Director Rakesh Kumar said.
