The counseling of a 16-year-old boy by a child psychologist did not take place on Monday, who allegedly confessed to having killed his mother and sister in Greater Noida. An official at the observation home said the session will be held on Tuesday by a renowned counselor, who will make a report on the boy’s social behavior.

Due to prior commitments, the counselor could not reach the observation home on Monday at 4pm, officials said. An official said that the basic idea is to rehabilitate the boy on the basis that ‘whatever has happened is a thing of the past.’ The boy was brought to the observation home on Saturday around 5.30pm. He was not comfortable with sharing details related to the murders that took place on the night of December 4 in a high-rise apartment.

We had provided him books with motivational stories and he also played carom with boys of his age on Monday. On Sunday evening, the boy’s father and uncle had come to meet him but had to leave after five minutes. “When his father and uncle came to meet him, he started getting emotional. We intervened and asked them to leave. First, we have to make him feel comfortable here. This is a different environment for him. His father agreed and left,” an official said.

The official said the observation home has 140 children aged between 10-18 years from Gautam Budh Nagar, Shamli, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. He can appear in exams following as per the order from the Juvenile Justice Board and the boy’s father can handover books for his son to pursue studies. Meanwhile, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, BN Singh, has given directions to officials to ensure that inmates of the observation home do not suffer.
