Minister of commerce and industry Suresh Prabhu today addressed India Digital Summit and shared interesting insights of his term as Railway minister where he pioneered the digital reforms. He also spoke about he plans to digitise the manufacturing sector and how modern technology can assist commerce sector to grow more rapidly.
He said ,”Talking of digital economy it cannot be limited to one thing. In railway we took complaint redressal in digital way and it was a great success”.
He also revealed that over 8 billion people took rail rides in India in last year and this itself speaks about the challanges that this vast sector presents.
“All railway operations which we execute are very vast, we had a vision to completely digitise it and from the enormous response that we got to it only proves that there is space for digitisation in every sector and segment”, he said.
As Minister of Commerce and Industry he said that he is looking forward towards digitisation of manufacturing industry. Talking about it he said, “We are putting completely end to end strategy in place for digital innovations in commerce sector. Many foreign countries have also expressed interest in it and we will brainstorm over to how this segment in India can be offered maximum benefit using the digital innovations”.
