As All India Council of Technical Education had made some amendment in the rule of student – faculty ratio, many private colleges have now started terminating their faculty members.

Over which faculty members had complained to AICTE and taking cognizance of the complaint AICTE had now issued a notice to the colleges and directed that due to amendment in the rule of student-faculty ratio no faculty members should be terminated from their services.

Earlier the student faculty ratio was 15:1 but after amendment it was changed to 20:1 after which number of faculty had increased as per norms and thousand of faculty member’s job is on risk.

Colleges were expected to take advantage of this decision because they had the opportunity to save on faculty salay but after the decision of AICTE barring termination on such ground, faculty members have now got big relief.

Further in its decision AICTE stated that faculty will only be terminated after they had completed their tenure or want to quit from the job  on their own.

In another decision AICTE once again directed that they should take fees as per fixed by the state fees committee. As the  AICTE had recived complaint that colleges were taking fees as per their wish after which AICTE issued them and told if further they will get any such complaints like this strict action will be taken against colleges.
