Greater Noida building collapse: After 40 hours only nine bodies recovered, kin raises eye brows over delay
Greater Noida: Even after 40 hours of Shah Beri building collapse tragedy, teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) succeeded to retrieve only nine people, however, perhaps 20 to 22 people trapped under the debris.
The slow functioning of the rescue teams raised the eye brows of relatives who are under the debris and locals. As per the NDRF officials, a team of 150 personnel have been tirelessly working in the rescue operation but unavailability of major rescue equipment and narrow streets affecting the ongoing rescue operation.
Talking to Ten News, NDRF officer Vegh Raj Meena said that, “Nine bodies have been recovered so far and rescue teams are working on war footing. We likely complete the operation by tomorrow afternoon.”
Speaking on the death possibilities of trapped people he said, “The incident was horrific and debris are huge. Our dog squad team is constantly looking to get any trace of alive persons, but, till then, we have not received any major input. There might be a possibility of survivors.”
On Tuesday night, a six storey residential building at Shah Beri village (Greater Nodia) fell on the under-construction building adjacent to it. Both buildings collapsed on the blink of an eye, where likely 20 people were trapped; however, 9 bodies have been recovered so far. Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and NGOs, carrying out rescue operation there.
Kin created ruckus at Noida post-mortem office
All nine bodies which were retrieved from the Shah Beri village debris were sent to Noida Post-mortem office, locates on sector-94, however, family members of deceased created ruckus today morning because of delay in getting dead bodies.
According to sources, the unavailability of doctors was the reason of causing delay. Kin received the some of the bodies after the ruckus. However, government has been claiming to have teams of special doctors at the spot including 12 ambulances.
Helping Hands
As many as 200 members of Socio-spiritual organisation Dera Sacha Sauda came forward to help NDRF officials on Thursday morning. They provide food, water, etc to NDRF officials and also shown interest to help in rescue operation.
