Crash barriers, digital direction boards to be installed over Expressway to help motorists drive amid fog

Greater Noida (22/12/2018) : With mercury touching new low every passing day, it is expected that soon a dense fog will engulf the whole NCR region.

Taking note of the same, for the safety of motorist commuting over Noida Greater Noida Expressway, Greater Noida Industrial Developmental Authority (GNIDA) has decided to install crash barriers on the e-way. Apart from this official are also planning for putting digital direction boards so that they are easily visible to motorist during uneven weather.

The move comes after a sudden increase is registered in road mishaps over the e way in last one year as per the data From November 1 last year to October 31 this year, Noida and Greater Noida recorded 1,076 accidents, in which 462 persons died and 807 got injured.

“Crashes may occur on the expressway but these barriers can reduce the severity and thus save many lives. These can also vastly reduce the chances of head-on crashes, if placed properly in the median,” an official said.

The Authority has already floated a tender to hire a contractor for implementation of the project. And as per the tender documents the total cost of the project will be 1.86 crore in which contractor have to make all the arrangements of water and electricity on his own.
Completion deadline for this project will be of three months along with an agreement which will ensure the durability of 2 years.
