Setback to Mamata Banerjee ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Trinamool Congress MP Saumitra Khan joins BJP

New Delhi(09/01/2019) : Trinamool Congress MP Saumitra Khan from West Bengal today joined the BJP, giving a fillip to the saffron party’s campaign in West Bengal in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed Saumitra Khan at the BJP HQ in Delhi.

Welcoming the new member, Dharmendra Pradhan said,
“BJP is all set to win Lok Sabha elections and once again Modi will lead India towards a bright and better future.”

Earlier today, Khan met BJP president Amit Shah before the news came to fore that he will be joining the BJP. Khan told that he wanted to work with PM Narendra Modi. Notably, on Tuesday, Khan had uploaded a Facebook post in which he had claimed that a police officer was trying to kill him. Following the controversial post, reports said that Khan was pulled up by senior party leaders for his behaviour.



Khan, who joined the party at a press conference following a meeting with its president Amit Shah, represents Bishnupur in the Lok Sabha and was earlier a member of the state assembly as well.

BJP leader and former TMC member, Mukul Roy, said today that at least five more TMC MPs were in touch with him to join the BJP ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

After a loss in 5 states of Indian Continent, BJP is now working very hard to confirm their win in Lok Sabha 2019 elections.
