New Delhi: All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the apex trade union organization of Bank Officers in the country representing over 3,20,000 members organized a Maha Morcha at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on various issues concerning the officers community of the entire Banking Industry. Officers of various Central Govt. organizations and Public Sector Undertakings under the banner of All India Public Sector and Central Govt. Officers Confederation (AIPCOC) also participated in the Morcha.
The Maha Morcha originated in the form of a massive Jatha from Barakhamba Road proceeded towards Parliament Street, Sansad Marg via Tolstoy Marg and finally culminated into the Morcha at Jantar Mantar. Trade Unions, farmers, workers, SHGs, other stakeholders and different Resistance groups including India Ex Servicemen Movement (IESM) addressed the massive assembly in Delhi.
Speaking to Ten News, Soumya Datta, General Secretary, AIBOC said,
“AIBOC strongly condemns the stand adopted by the Indian Banks Association on the pending bipartite wage negotiations; IBA has disregarded the majority member banks which have submitted unconditional mandate for the bipartite negotiations, and refused to negotiate for the entire officer community on the pretext that that five banks have submitted a fractured mandate.”
He further said, “We also denounce the haste with which the government continues to defy all guidelines in trying to push through the merger of Vijaya Bank, Dena Bank and Bank of Baroda despite knowing fully well that the merger between SBI & Associate Banks proved it beyond doubt that such an exercise would be an exercise in futility and not even qualify to be called a financial engineering. ”
“AIBOC enjoins upon Central Government to take note of the spontaneous gathering of the youth and all kind of stakeholders in the Public Sector Banking space and ensure that our legitimate demands are fulfilled.AIBOC will leave no stone unturned to ensure that all its demands are met and to that end will not dither in intensifying our struggle against the Central Government,” added Datta.
