ICC Cricket World Cup: Should MS Dhoni retire after World Cup? Delhi Public Reacts

New Delhi, (11/3/2019): India is known to be a country of cultures and traditions, where people of many religions unites to follow a sport named Cricket. It seems to be the bridge between the different cultures, languages and colours.



Cricketers in India are the stars and heart of nation. Some names from India like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, are the legends in cricket history.

But one name which comes to the light in the 21st century cricket is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Started late in terms of age but achieved so much that no one in the Indian cricket history achieved.

Dhoni was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and was a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur railway station from 2001 to 2003, under South Eastern Railway in Midnapore (W), a district in West Bengal.

But with a never dieing passion and huge amount of talent he was selected to play for India. He is an attacking right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket keeper, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest finishers in limited-overs cricket. He is also regarded as one of the best wicket-keepers in world cricket.

He also captained India for 9 years and won a cricket ICC World Cup held in 2011, ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, and ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. He is the only Indian Captain to achieve the feat.

Still now at 37 years of age he is fit enough to leave behind his teenage teammates, but according to the cricketing tradition, this age is usually the time when most of the cricket players retire from cricket.

As young talents are in the line, waiting for their turn, Ten News team asked Delhi people that, “Should Dhoni retire after this World Cup or continue playing?”,

Most of the People said, that he should continue to play after World Cup also and when asked why they said, “that Dhoni is like mentor for the whole team, he is the one guiding each and every player on the field, and he also is very fit, he can run faster than most of his team mates”.

Some said, that “What Dhoni has achieved no one has achieved and still he is playing so good, in every match he does something hard to believe”.

While one person said, that “Dhoni should retire after this World Cup because the young talents are used as an option untill Dhoni retires. Untill the young talents are given enough opportunity they cannot deliver their 100%”.
