CPI(M) releases election manifesto for Lok Sabha Elections 2019

New Delhi: (28/03/2019) On March 28, Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI) released its manifesto for 2019 general elections.



General Secretary of the party Sitaram Yechury while releasing the manifesto said that the party will implement the farmers right to sell their produce at a Minimum Support Price (MSP), which is at least 50 per cent higher than the total cost of production and will implement one-third reservation for women in parliament and state assemblies.

The CPI (M) leader also promised reservation in jobs and education in the private sector for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).

The party also promised to escalate expenditure on public health, “public expenditure on health to be raised to at least 3.5 percent in the short term and 5 percent of the GDP in the long term, which would include a significantly enhanced allocation from the centre”, mentioned in the CPI (M) manifesto.

“The five years rule of the BJP government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been an unmitigated disaster for the country and the people”, reads first paragraph of party’s manifesto.

CPI(M)’s appeal to the Indian Electorate to defeat the BJP alliance, to increase the strength of the CPI(M) and the Left parties in the Lok Sabha and to ensure that an alternative secular government is formed at the centre.
